Description
Size: 7ft 5in x 4ft 4in (225 x 132cm).Antique Caucasian Shirvan rug with 'star' design.
Circa 1900.
A superb Caucasian rug with a single vertical row of five 'complex Stars' on a dark abrashed indigo blue field. There are many filler elements in the field between the stars. Superb colour and fine Shirvan like weave. The wide ivory ground border is really outstanding and is complemented by minor borders of carnations and stars.
Excellent condition, Slight even wear with good pile, the rug retains the original short ivory kilim at both ends.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
