Size: 9ft 6in x 8ft 8in (290 x 263cm).
Antique Ersari Turkmen main carpet from Southern Turkmenistan or Northern Afghanistan.
Circa 1880 or earlier.
This fine carpet has 3 rows of 6 large goli guls with large minor guls and other filler elements in the field. The main guls are of a superb large size and very round in shape.
The carpet is of a tradition Ersari orang/red colour with the design in indigo blue.
The carpet is of a useful square size, note the original long kilims at both ends.
The carpet is in fair condition with even wear, heavier in places and medium/low pile with a few finger tip size holes. There is also some damage to the sides as can be seen in the close up images. The carpet would be best suited if fitted on a good underlay. The condition is reflected in the price.
The carpet is suitable for light domestic use.
The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
