Antique Khamseh tribal rug of beautiful design and colour with superb soft wool.
Circa 1900.
A good example of one of the most beautiful of all nomadic tribal designs woven by the Khamseh tribe. The rug has a large central medallion, the colours give a wonderful soft warm feel.
The rug is in poor condition with tension problems giving the surface a slightly uneven feel, there are some old areas of wear and damage. The sides and ends are also a little ragged. The rug is of fine weave with very soft wool, although the rug has problems it could still be used in a light traffic area with a good underlay. Ideal for a bedroom or for that country house lived with look. The condition is reflected in the price.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
