Size: 6ft 0in x 3ft 5in (182 x 104cm).
Antique Ersari Turkmen chuval of very large size, with unusual turreted gul design.
Late 19th century.
This most unusual and scarce chuval is one of a pair, the design features two large turreted guls surrounded by six chuval guls. There are four half guls at the edges of the chuval. All of the guls contain silk highlights in pink and green silk. The elem is of the small shrub design, or as it is often called 'dancing ladies', this design is found on chuval by both the Ersari and Saryk Turkmen. The chuval is finely woven with excellent wool, it is complete with its original plain weave back. This chuval was without and doubt woven for some one of great importance. possibly a unique pair of chuval and highly collectible. The pair to this item is stock number D-0639. They are priced individually but I would be happy to discuss a special price for the pair.
Excellent condition with even wear. (this chuval has slightly more wear than its pair).
Hand washed and ready for display.
D-0640.
